As part of the 7 day post travel detox I road-tested, I was also trying out the benefits of daily lemon and lime detox water.

Not only was this a tasty alternative to plain water, the lemons and limes have been known to have benefits in them. I’ll definitely be making this detox water a regular occurrence from now on!

Recipe (Makes 1 Litre)

Ingredients:

  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • 1 litre mineral water

Method:

  1. Pour the mineral water into a jug (to be kept in the fridge).
  2. Squeeze the juice of 1 lemon into the jug. (Make sure you don’t include the pips)!
  3. Squeeze the juice of 1 lime into the jug. (Mind those pesky pips)!
  4. Stir vigorously.
  5. Store in the fridge for 3-5 hours or overnight.
  6. Drink and enjoy!

Why Lemon?

Lemons are said to aid digestion and detoxification; provide your body with plenty of Vitamin C; rejuvenate and brighten your skin; help with weight loss and boost your energy and mood.

Why Lime?

Limes are thought to aid weight loss; improve digestion; help with gut and urinary disorders and relieve constipation.

During my detox, I made sure to include daily glasses of this miracle juice and I can surely say that it helped. It was tastier than just drinking plain water, made my skin brighter and did give me a boost in mood. Lemon and lime detox water – you are now added to my post travel detox routine.
