One of the missions behind why I launched Wanderer of the World was to share my knowledge, advice and tips with you all so that more of you can travel the world, ideally with an air of calm and serenity about you. Well, in order to do just that, I’m also required to spread the word about cool new resources I find to help make your travels and travel planning easier.

First things first, let’s set the scene…

You’ve arrived at your travel destination after a fairly uneventful flight, but find that you cannot check into your hotel or apartment for at least another 3 hours. Personally, I remember my trip to Vienna, in which my first day of sightseeing was with my cabin luggage in tow with me. Imagine how crazy I looked walking through St Stephen’s Church with my suitcase wheeling behind me?! But, we’ve all been there, right?

Now, you could spend this time by chilling out with a cocktail or grabbing some food, or even starting your sightseeing early like I did! But… you’re lugging around a great big suitcase with you everywhere. Not cool! Wouldn’t it be amazing if you could free up your hands, drop off your bags somewhere and come back for them later?

Well, when I was told about this cool new app that allows you to do just that; I knew I had to spread the word!

BagAPP is a new mobile app you can download for free, and use to book in bag drop offs with your choice of various locations, based on your travel destination and budget. You can either download from your mobile app store or just enter your mobile number on this page here and receive a download link via SMS.

Currently, BagAPP are operating in:

  • London
  • Milan
  • Rome
  • Venice
  • Florence
  • Palermo
  • Spoleto
  • Berlin
  • Prague
  • Capri

The great news is that the locations used are increasing as they grow as a company too. And with prices starting from as little as £3 for a couple of hours worth of someone looking after your bag, this is a great little app for any savvy traveller wanting to make their journey easier and less stressful!

So, how does it work?

The app itself is really simple to use – you could be booking your bag drop off within minutes with these four steps:

  1. Search for a drop off in your location, and for the date and time you need.
  2. You’ll be shown a map of possible drop offs – pick one!
  3. Book it and wait for the confirmation email.
  4. Drop off your bag – so simple!

These app screenshots should give you a great idea of just how easy it really is:

Is it safe?

With services like this, there is always going to be some concern over just how safe it is to use. When booking, you’ll receive a full list of the T’s and C’s, but the main part to remember is that the custody of your luggage is guaranteed by BagAPP’s network of partners. As you’re booking via the app, BagAPP are obviously there to ensure they can help should anything go wrong with your booking, and they vet all partners that register to become a bag drop off location. So you should feel pretty safe in booking with them. Should you ever need it though, keep hold of your booking confirmation email, which will contain details of how to contact them with any queries or concerns you might have.

So, what do you think? Would you ever use a service like this? And if so, where would you go? Write me a little note in the comments section below…
