If you’re anything like me when planning for a super exciting holiday, you’ll want to chill out a few weeks before, watching a bunch of movies set in the place you’re travelling to.

Or maybe you just like an inspirational movie to help you catch the travel bug … ahem, even more than you already have!

So, without further adieu, I present to you my Travel Movie Playlist! Grab some popcorn, your favourite fluffy slippers and a blanket and indulge yourself with some of my top travel movie choices…

1. Eat Pray Love

Ahh, one of my all time travel movie loves!

I first watched this movie in 2013, and I genuinely believe this was the movie that inspired me to get out travelling even though I was on my own. A couple of months after watching this, I’d booked a bunch of train tickets to let me wander across Italy.

Not to mention Bali is now on my travel bucket list because of this movie!

PS I’ve also read the book … highly recommended! Buy it here.

2. The Secret Life of Walter Mitty

Although the plot of this movie leaves a little to be desired, the pure inspiring message behind it alongside the beautiful scenery warrants its position in my top five!

With our travels to Iceland coming up soon, I will most likely be curling up with this movie soon.

3. Midnight in Paris

I’m pretty sure this would be on most traveller’s movie lists. Romance in Paris – can you really go wrong with that?

If you’re planning a getaway to the ‘City of Lights’, then surely this is one for you to watch before venturing out … enjoy!

4. Into the Wild

You will need to set aside a few hours to watch this movie from start to finish as it’s quite long, but it’s surely worth it.

A young college Grad decides to venture out on his own (with hardly any money) and finds himself meeting awesome people and living a life well lived. A remarkable (and true) story, which is well worth a watch!

5. Under the Tuscan Sun

Ciao bella! Have you ever dreamed of buying a one way ticket to Italy and living out in the countryside?

If yes, this is the movie for you as a young divorcee does just that … totally on a whim!

A movie to indulge your Italian fantasies with a romantic twist. Now, where did I put my vino?

Wildcard Choice: Letters to Juliet

Why not take a risk with my wildcard movie choice?

Okay, so there is some seriously questionable acting in this movie and it’s never been one to have the best ratings among the critics. But I just couldn’t help it – this is one of my guilty pleasures!

Set in Verona, a young woman helps answer the many letters left by women across the world writing to Juliet, and there’s all kinds of romance going on within this beautiful city.

PS No surprises – I bought the book and have enjoyed reading love letters from inspiring women across the globe. And then I went to Verona myself! Buy the book here.

So, what do you think of these movies? Are there any tempting enough for you to give a go? I’m always one for finding new movie choices so if I’m missing some awesome ones, then let me know and I’ll most likely take you up on your recommendation. Just post a note in the comments below…
